Charity WorkCharity forms a core part of our school. From helping to raise money for orphans, to students volunteering in local schools, we encourage our students to explore the world and its people through charitable initiatives. Local charities such as the Heart to Heart Foundation and the Bao Bei Foundation, benefit directly from our charity events at the school, and students are taught the value of helping others who may be less fortunate. We have hosted book sales, bake sales, and regular events like the Christmas and Summer Fayre, are kindly supported by the local community. As part of the IB CAS (creativity, action, service) programme, our senior students help young children and women in China, India, and Nepal through through the Pathways of Hope organisation which looks to raise money to fund educational programmes. In recent years, our IB students have also travelled to Cambodia with the Starfish Foundation to work with young children in poor areas. Closer to home, our students work with community volunteers to help orphaned children with heart problems, either raising money or providing clothing, stationery and toys for the charity. Students organise events and visit the children, spending time with them and gaining a greater insight into some of the problems less fortunate members of our community face. As an organisation, Nord Anglia has created a charitable arm - Nordstar - which provides a yearly allowance to help support charity projects. Within the group, parents, staff and students share ideas and come together to give their support to the wider global community. You’ll find NordStar dragon boat racing, bake sales, BBQs, football matches, dancing competitions and more! |
