Entry Requirements

We are a largely non-selective school following a formal academic curriculum.

We follow the UK National Curriculum, modified to suit the needs of children and young adults in an international setting.  Our entry requirements are quite straightforward.  We take students, where we have space, who will be able to access and engage with our academic curriculum. 

We consider all applicants carefully, looking at reports from their existing schools and talking to them wherever possible.  We may ask students to sit some tests where we have concerns about their ability to cope with our curriculum.

Our curriculum is based on age, and we normally place students in the year group that is appropriate for their age.  Experience tells us that students do better at school when they are with friends and classmates of similar ages. We recognise that movement between school systems is not always straightforward, and we always discuss placement carefully with parents where it isn't obvious.

We are used to working with children whose first language is not English.  We'll talk with parents about the individual language needs of a child, and may recommend that they follow a modified curriculum for a while.  Additional charges for this programme will be discussed and agreed.

For students joining the school in Key Stage 4 or for IB, we need to look carefully at what they have studied previously.  Our Head of Secondary and IB Co-ordinator will talk  with parents of older students to look at individual needs and issues.

We aim to be inclusive, and, as with all good schools,  we have the ability to work effectively with children with mild learning difficulties.  If, after discussion, however, we feel that we cannot meet your child's particular learning needs, we are likely to explain, with regret, that we can't offer a place.


Our aim is to provide our students with equal opportunities and to place them in a class that is suited to their age and ability.
