Extra Curricular Activities
How we organise the ECA programme ECAs take place after school from Monday to Thursday. Most ECAs run from 3.30pm to 4.30pm, although sports teams and school production rehearsals may run until 5.30pm or later. If you are involved in a sports team, you may also be attending matches on some weekends. You can check the times of each ECA on the programme. Our ECA Handbooks KS1 Handbook (Term 1) - Download (50KB) Choosing your ECA Some ECAs, including sports teams, musical productions and MUN, are run on a trial and selection basis. We encourage everyone with an interest to try out, although it is a good idea to sign up for a non-selection ECA on the same day, just in case you don’t meet the selection criteria. If you're selected, and we hope you are, you can then withdraw from your other choice by talking with the teacher in charge. Before you complete the registration form, you should read the ECA description carefully and talk with your parents about your choices - remember that your parents might need to support you with travel arrangements to weekend matches or rehearsals. ECAs are a commitment You’ll need to attend the ECA for the whole of the term, so think careful about your choices. Changing your ECA choice after the programme starts isn’t always easy because some of the ECA options will already be full. If you do want to change your ECA choice, you should talk with Mr Wallace. Signing up for ECAs is easy. For each term’s ECAs, your class teacher or Form Tutor will give you a copy of the registration form. All you need to do is complete it carefully, talk with your parents about it and hand it in. Signing up for sports teams is a little different and you’ll need to fill in a sports registration form and, later on, go to the team trial. You’ll be able to suggest a first and second ECA choice for each day, and we’ll try to give you your first choice. As there is a limit to the number of students who can do each ECA, it’s a good idea to hand your form in early. If you or your parents have any questions about ECAs, you can talk with the teacher running the ECA, or the Director of Sport and ECAs, Mr Wallace.
