Examinations

As our students approach the end of the IGCSE and IB courses and prepare for the final exams we would like to share with you the expectations that we place on all of our students during the exam period.

You will also find all the necessary information on these pages relating to the exam period including revision tips, guidelines and timetables.

Students are required to attend taught lessons until the start of the exam period.  After this, students are welcome to come in to school for study, but they do not need to attend other than for exams. Students may arrive and leave on the school bus as normal and use the library for private study when not in an exam. In this case, he or she must sign in and out at the reception and wear full school uniform at all times.

Students have a personalised copy of the exam timetable. He or she must arrive at the exam room at least 15 minutes before the exam start time. We are not able to give extra time to students who arrive late, and we cannot let students sit the exam at all if they arrive more than 30 minutes late. This is a rule of the exam boards and we have no power to change it. Please leave plenty of time to allow for traffic or other transport problems.

Attendance at all exams is essential. If students are unable to attend due to sickness, we need a formal medical certificate from the doctor to send to the exam board. In this case, please telephone the school to let us know that he or she will be absent.

Our examination results

The British International School Puxi Shanghai is an academic, but non-selective, school that prides itself on high achievement for all students.  Results are monitored through programmes provided by GL Assessments (GCSE) and Durham University’s CEM Centre (IB), and these programmes show that the results gained by students consistently exceed those that they would have gained in other schools.  Summary results and results for individual subjects for both IB and IGCSE over the last three years are shown in the document below.  Please contact us if you would like to discuss any of these results further.
