Y5 in Moganshan

by Lizzie White (5B)

Day 1 (Monday 11th October 2010)

On our first day we all had to get up early to be at school for 8:00 instead of 8:30 with our bags ready so everybody who took the bus had to get there earlier by car or moped. Then we left for the bus. When we arrived at Moganshan everybody thought it was over for the day and time to go to our rooms, but it wasn’t. After the long journey we all got sorted into groups and met our new group leaders. We then did an activity called bamboo catapults. In that game we were given six pieces of bamboo, seven pieces of string and all the members of the group helped to make a catapult. After that we played some more games and went to bed with our roommates.

Day 2 (Tuesday 12th October 2010)

Today started with a wakeup call at 7:30 saying that breakfast was at 8:00. The morning went smoothly, we ate breakfast  and half of us went to the local Chinese school and half of us went to the tea fields. I went to the local Chinese school and it was very interesting. We were divided into two groups again and we went into different classes.  We learned and taught with the students then we played more games! Then we went to bed!

Day 3 (Wednesday 13th October 2010)

Today we had to wake up half an hour earlier because the people at the local school wanted the next group to come in earlier than the first. Today my group went to the tea plantation. But we didn’t go to the tea plantation first! We went to the hike first, we climbed a lot of stairs and looked at waterfalls, then we went to the tea plantation. We went to the factory next and saw all of the machines they use to make tea. Then we went into the lady who owns the tea plantation's house to try the tea. The tea was very hot, so hot that somebody actually burnt their tongue! Then we went tea picking, it was such fun! We walked around the tea farm and picked the best tea we could find! Then they would dry it and we would get to take it home.

Day 4 (Thursday 14th October 2010, the final day)

Today was the final day. Everybody was sad to be leaving but happy to be going back to their families. The day started like any other, we got up, had breakfast, and,the not so normal bit, we packed ready to leave. Then our groups got together and said the things we liked about our trip. We then got on the bus and headed in only one direction, home! Half way through the journey, we stopped to get some snacks to eat, then we left!

Starting the day with a good breakfast is important when you've got a busy day ahead of you.
