Mathematical Writing

Did you know there is a special property to do with the Islamic scripture written outside the main entrance of the Taj Mahal in India?

As part of International Week, some of our Year 9 students have been investigating this property by measuring the height of a letter as they see it straight ahead of them and then trying to work out the required height of the same letter so that we perceived it to be the same as we look up. Apart from feeding their brains with some fresh air, their next job is to make their brains work using some trigonometry skills!

As part of our International Week activity programme, students have been looking at some international puzzles and problems.
