Science Museum VisitIt was a spectacular day of sunshine for an exciting visit to the Shanghai Science Museum on Tuesday 26 April. Kelly O'Rourke, Year 4 Leader It was indeed a jam packed learning experience for all from the moment we entered through the electronic turnstiles. “Which way do we head first?” came a cry from the enquiring minds of our students, all set for a day of interactive learning. The children then had the hard decision as to what exhibits to choose from; The Earth’s Core, Animal World, Robot World and Colourland to name but a few! After much deliberation it was agreed that the most popular things to explore were the trapeze bike ride, the gravity room, the mirror maze and the electricity domes. These interactive attractions gave the children the chance to learn for themselves and consolidate knowledge gained from recent lessons. As reflected by one student who exclaimed, “When I ride the exercise bike at a high speed it creates an energy force that moves the object” (Henry Gilbert 4I). After a hectic day of exploration the children were happy to board the bus and escape the crowds of the museum and reflect on the amazing things they had seen. The question “What was the most memorable experience of the day?” was posed. A response from one student summed it up precisely “The African animals were so life-like and the gigantic spider was incredible. It felt like I was a real explorer!” (Wilma Svensson 4S). Thank you to all the Year 4 children for making it a lovely day of learning and the TA’s and parent helpers for their extra guidance. |
