By Peter Dewhurst, Head of Primary Following the calm of the Golden Week holiday, this week back at school has been a very busy and exciting one. As well as all the hard work going on in every classroom, the children have been taking part in a wide range of extra-curricular activities. Many children have been involved in the new lunch time music clubs, such as the Rock Band, KS1 Recorders and Rhythm Workshop and the Primary Choir. Years 4, 5 &6 have been at the Shanghai American School for some excellent Soccer Fun Days. There have also been some exciting trips this week including the Year 4 Art in the Park and the Year 6 Sheshan Sculpture Park visit. At the end of the week, the Year 3 students took part in a fantastic Viking Day in which the children and staff dressed up as Vikings, (Mr. Morgan even grew a full beard for the event!), made a Viking ship and went on a treasure hunt around the school. All of these activities really create enthusiasm among the children and enhance the whole school experience, as you can see from the photographs. I would like to thank all the staff who give up their time to organise and run these very worthwhile activities. On Tuesday 11 October, it was great to see so many parents at the Early Years Foundation Stage numeracy information meeting. Lots of parents commented on how useful the session was and how it will help them encourage their children at home and at school. It is great to see staff and parents working in partnership for the benefit of their children. |
