The Christmas FayreOn Saturday 10 December we celebrated the end of term with our annual Christmas Fayre, meeting friends from the community and raising money for our chosen charities. Last Saturday’s Christmas Fayre was a wonderful event and a very good example of the benefits of team work. Year on year we seek to improve the quality of what we do and once again we were able to combine some family fun with fund raising for two very good causes. It was great to see so many people from across the community and across the world coming together to support this event. We are still working to finalise the final figures for the event but I can announce that we have raised at least 130,000 RMB which is an increase on last year. The other main element of our Christmas charitable giving was the delivery of 358 gift bags to the Yu Xin Migrant School which took place on Monday and is featured later in this issue. As you will see, it brought a great deal of pleasure to a group of underprivileged local students. This is invaluable work on so many levels and I am looking forward to seeing our charitable work develop further. Yesterday we held the first meeting of the local Nordstar Board and having discussed our remit, a number of exciting potential initiatives were discussed which will be worked out in more detail next term. I look forward to updating you on our progress. By Kevin Foyle, Principal |
